Good luck to all the runners this weekend, from the bar...

One of my most hypocritical newsletters I’ve ever done is incoming.

Because there’s a ton of events going on this weekend, and I’m feeling FOMO for being involved in none of them. Although I’m hoping it will all be worth it as the pull-up strength has progressed towards my first Spartan race in 9 days.

And I’ve also left it to the last minute to type this newsletter after promising to make it a weekly event only last week… currently in a corner of a bar, laptop on, well my lap, as I wait for the better half to meet me before we head into the cinema for Devils Wear Prada 2 (yes, she picked it… I may already have had a pint, so typos not on me!)

More importantly, best of luck to everyone racing this weekend, whether it’s in the Women's Mini Marathon, Cork Marathon, Half Marathon or 10k, TriAthy or one of the many events going on around the country

I’m probably in the minority of runners who prioritise gym work (probably too much) over running. And with the 20 week countdown to the Dublin Marathon imminent, you may be wondering how to build in some gym work without compromising your running.

You’ll be happy to know that you don’t need to spend hours and days in the gym to make real progress and help reduce the risk of injury that marathon training can bring (unfortunately, speaking from experience here!)

We’ll be talking a lot more about this in future newsletters, but here’s a short video from a recent episode of the podcast with S&C coach David O’Connor to help get you started HERE

Running can be about much more than PBs and splits, as we learned about on this week’s episode of the podcast. A fantastic interview with Chris O’Connor, who’s an absolute inspiration in his running journey so far. We’ll let some of the Spotify comments tell the story:

I need to wrap this one up, the better half just texted to say she’s near and ‘unfortunately’ I was just asked if I wanted another pint! In fairness, I’ve put her through a lot of Aston Villa games these past few months, but I’m sure I’m going to love this movie… right?… right?!?!
