Any Given Runday Episode 8 - Rest & Recovery Strategies - Part 1

In this episode of the podcast, the lads talk about rest and recovery strategies. What they feel has and hasn't worked for them and how they tailor their recovery. There's a couple of main things to note from this episode. What works for one person may feel like a waste of time for another and that correlation is not causation. For example, Seán talks about using compression clothing after a marathon and then takes an epsom salts bath. He didn't feel as sore as he thought the next day. Was it the compression salts, baths or his training that lead to this?

The third thing to take into account... well, that's for the end of the podcast which will lead to a part two that will drop this Thursday!

50 Aaron using a foam roller for his calves after his runs

30: Conor talks about massage guns and how he feels about them

15: Conor talks about his GAA club have a recovery chart and getting points for doing each activity

00: While Conor and Aaron use a foam roller at the end of a session, Eric talks about why he prefers it at the start of a session and his love for the Backballer over a normal foam roller

40: Seán talks about only using a Backballer or another foam roller for two minutes for his training and why.

55: After 31 years, Seán learns the correct pronunciation of the word "sliotar" and why he would use one in a warm-up.

40: Eric gets into details about the Doterra oils that he has been taking so far in his training along with his nutrition and sleep.

25: Conor disagrees with Seán on sleep being the 'cheapest' most underutilised tool along with the effects of CBD oil.

55: Why it is so hard to tell if one thing is definitely working for you

20: Saunas & Cold Showers

50: Epsom Salts baths, yay or nay

10: The importance of breathing and the breathing technique Seán would have his clients do after every Personal Training session.
