Accountability and Motivation through each other

Posted on Wednesday, February 12, after forcing myself into doing a 10km to finish the day

Sometimes I hate posting about my fitness progress running on social media. It feels vain sometimes like “hey look at me.”

But then I look at my day and I realise that people push each other all the time to get a little more out of their training.

At 6am this morning, I coached people in the gym lift a little heavier because they saw their workout partner training beside them lifting heavier and tried a heavier weight themselves.

While coaching a couch to 5k, I saw people push others to not only stay running for longer distances than they thought possible but also challenge each other to a sprint finish to get even more out of the training.

Then in my Castleknock boot camp, the ladies went through an hour circuit session and, when the session was over, still managed to go out and get a run in outside (they also did it in the freezing cold conditions on Monday when I opted for an indoor treadmill session after it).

So when I post my progress, it’s not easy. But no one’s journey is easy. It was very tempting to stay in a warm car, go home, and get some extra sleep now. But to make progress you have to get out of your comfort zone.

And when I see the people around me do that, it pushes me to do the same
